Scholarship Awards & Grants

APPLICATION PROCESS:

Students are to submit a completed Informational Sheet AND Letter of Application/Essay (written by the student), which includes the appropriate information outlined below to: Mr. Dean, Ms. Iverson or Mr. McNamara or via email to bothellmusicboosters@gmail.com by Friday, May 3, 2019.  Late applications will NOT be accepted.

 

The Scholarship Awards & Grants Committee will tentatively hold interviews (and auditions for Seniors) on Wednesday, May 15 @ 5:30 – 9:00 pm (approx. times) in the BHS music rooms. Plan to arrive 10 minutes prior to the interview start time.
Applicants should sign up for interviews on sign-up sheets located in the hallway between the choir & band rooms beginning Friday, May 3. SENIORS: SIGN UP for TWO (2) CONSECUTIVE SLOTS

 

  • Application packets due (Informational Sheet & Letter of Application/Essay): by Friday, May 3, 2019 (EXTENDED TO MAY 8th)

  • Interview/Audition Date: Wednesday, May 15, 2019 @ 5:30 – 9:00 PM (tentative)

 

Scholarship Awards & Grant recipients will be selected based on the content of the letters of application, music experience, performance ability, poise, sincerity and appearance (appropriate interview and performance attire).

Senior Scholarship Awards

- Supporting students continuing music education

at the college and university level -

 

2019 Senior Scholarship Award Information Sheet

 

Bothell High School Music Boosters offer three (3) $750 scholarship awards to current Bothell High School seniors who plan to further their music education at a college/university beginning in the Fall of 2019. Applicants must be pursuing a major in music and be enrolled in the Fall of 2019 to qualify. One scholarship award is available for each discipline: Choral, Orchestra, and Band.

 

  • Applicants must pursue a Major in music studies at an accredited college or university.

  • Applicants must demonstrate qualities of leadership, strong communication skills and self-confidence.

  • Applicants must sign up for TWO (2) consecutive interview spots beginning May 1 in music lobby (between Instrumental &
    Choral classrooms)

  • During the interview, applicants may be asked about college application and interview/audition process. 

  • Applicants will perform a piece of music of their choice.  (Maximum five (5) minutes in length) 

 

A Letter of Application/Essay must be submitted with the Informational Sheet and should be typed and presented in a clear, legible format that indicates individual thought and expression containing, at a minimum, the following information:

 

  • Reason(s) you plan to major in music

  • Selected focus of Major (Performance, Music Education, Composition, etc.)

  • Your qualifications for and interest in future studies and a career in music

  • Your past music experiences and accomplishments

 

Continuing Music Education Grants

 - Supporting students participating in summer

music camps & private lessons -

 

2019 Continuing Music Education Grant Information Sheet

 

Bothell High School Music Boosters offer grants of up to $200 to students entering grades 10, 11 and 12 in Fall 2019, who want to further their music education during the summer of 2019. Grants go towards music tutoring, lessons, camps or programs and are payable directly to the program or instructor.

  • Students must be enrolled in a music education course at Bothell High School in the Fall of 2019 to qualify.

  • Applicants must sign up for an interview @ BHS in the hallway between Instrumental and Vocal rooms.

 

A Letter of Application/Essay must be submitted with the Informational Sheet and is to be composed by the student
applicant; typed and presented in a clear, legible format that indicates individual thought and expression. Content should include the following information (at least):

  • Upon return from camp or subsequent to private lessons, how you plan to share what you have learned with
    your fellow music students

  • How this experience will benefit you as a music student

  • How it will impact your personal goals

  • Your plan to share what you have learned with Music Boosters (Ideas:  share @ a meeting, submit essay, perform, etc.)

  • Indicate camp or lesson costs, duration, including travel, if applicable.
